Getting beach chic this summer

It’s coming to the time of year when the shops fill with all the lovely summer clothing that you just can’t wait to get your hands on. Yet, know you can’t wear it, as it’s still cold and raining outside. We start to think about getting our bodies beach ready. To make sure we are looking at our best for those cocktails on the beach. My body has not been beach ready in one to many years now and honestly probably never will be back to its former pre-children glory. However this year on our annual holiday I am determined to find something flattering that isn’t just the black swimsuit I wear to the gym.

It’s isn’t always just about your swim wear it’s about so much more. So, I thought I would share with you my beach chic style for this summer.

The Bikini

I really love this two piece bikini Indian Summer set, I love the slightly boho feel to it. Plus the high waisted bikini bottoms are just what I need to help with my beach confidence. As the bottoms are high waisted they will hold me in just in the right places. I love the slightly open wave at the side of them, adding that bit of chic I have been looking for.

The cover up

I think every time you head to the beach you need something to cover you up, when heading to the bar for a cocktail after a day on the beach. Or even for the a lovely evening stroll along with waters edge, when the sun has started to set and you just need that extra layer to keep the chill off. I really like this ViX sold Fuji Kaftan, its really chic, it will go with any beach wear you choose and will look fabulous accessorised with some jewellery.

The Beach accessories

No beach outfit is complete without the all important accessories. For me, choosing the accessories is just as important as finding the perfect swimwear. I have so many bags, items of jewellery, sun glasses and old beach towels, but they are just not quite right for the beach chic style I am going for this year.

I’m all about a hand bag, I have so many, but a beach bag should be big, it should be fabulous and it should be something that is just for holidays. I always carry so much in my day to day handbags, when I go to the beach it’s not much different, well may be my beloved kikki k planner might stay at home. But the phone, lipstick, a book, purse, sun lotion and goodness know what else will still come with me to the beach. So, the bigger the better, I love this Heidi Klein Grace Bay bag, it’s perfect for all my beach needs. Plus it looks amazing.

Every beach chic outfit needs a lovely pair of flip flops, now I’m not talking about those rubber cheap ones you buy. I love a great pair of flip flops, they can be worn on the beach all day, during the evening, on the plane, everywhere. Chic flip flops are a summer investment. I really like this leather pair of Melissa Odabash flip flops, they will match my beach chic style perfectly for this summer.

Sunglasses are an essential part of any summer wardrobe, I have recently taken a likely to classic aviator style. Which put them at the top of my beach bag. I really like these Seafolly Venture sunglasses, perfect for the whole summer.

I wear jewellery every day, I am rarely seen without earrings or a necklace on. So, why would that have to change for on the beach. I really like the boho vibes of long multi gold necklaces, they will sit perfectly with both the bikini and the kaftan. Finishing off the beach chic look perfectly. This Ashiana Autuma necklace is perfect for my beach style.

beach chic round beach towel

While having the perfect beach chic outfit is wonderful, you also need the perfect beach chic towel. And I have found this gorgeous Watercult Beach Roundie towel with a beautiful mandala pattern. It will just finish my fabulous beach chic outfit off.

What do you think to my beach chic look for this summer?

Dressing to impress with Jacamo

My Hubby loves to get dressed up almost as much as me. In recent years his style has really improved, with a little help from me. Well, no, a lot of help from me. The Hubby loves a bit of tweed, it goes with his country style really well. Imagine, checked farmers shirts, jeans, waxed jackets and you are about there with his style. Plus it really suits him.

I have been looking for a tweed style blazer that was a bit different to everything else he has in his wardrobe. Something that would be warn casually day to day but also could be used for a evening meal out or a party.

Jacamo got in touch a while ago to ask if the Hubby would like a couple of items. So I thought I would have a look to see if they have anything nice other than Freddie Flintoff. I had never looked at the Jacamo site before, because in all honestly I thought it was designed for larger, taller men. Although my Hubby isn’t the smallest man he, also doesn’t struggle for clothing in standard shops. However when I popped onto the Jacamo site I was impressed to see that they offer clothing from a size small to a 5 xl. Brilliant, it means that whatever your size and also style you would be able to find items at Jacamo. Which I did for the Hubby and every easily.

I’m not the most decisive person, so I often have to think about things for a while before can make my mind up. For me I will often order 4 or 5 items even when I am just wanting one. When buying for someone else it can be even more difficult. So after spending probably a few to many hours looking at the Jacamo items, I found a gorgeous grey herringbone ‘Have a blast’ blazer, matching waist coat and a white shirt that all looked rather lovely on model that was was wearing with it. As the Hubby generals wears a checked shirt, I thought I would also go for the white shirt for something a bit different. I was really impressed with the results.

The items arrived a few days later. The Joe Browns ‘Have a Blast’ blazer costs £100, but it was on offer for £65. The matching waist coat cost £50, but again was on offer for £35 and the Williams and Brown white shirt was only £16.

We were both really impressed with the quality of the items. The blazer and waist coat are both finished beautifully with contrasting linings, the grey herringbone has a real subtle check running through it, giving it just enough of the country feel that my Hubby loves. I hadn’t noticed in photographs on the web page, but the blazer also has a lovely button hole of feathers that looks lovely on it. Fair enough a feather button hole might not be for everyone, but it is easily removable. The buttons on the cuffs just finish it all off.

The white shirt for £16 is good quality, it easily irons and looks great with the blazer and waist coat combination. We are both really pleased with the fit and style of the outfit I had chosen, fingers crossed I might get taken out for dinner soon.

I wouldn’t hesitate to order items from Jacamo again, they have a great range of clothing, in fact I have my eye on some other bit’s for the Hubby to help change up his love of checked shirts.

*Thank you Jacamo for sending these lovely outfits for my Hubby. As always thoughts and opinions are my own.*

Cosy winter night at home

The winter months are always so long, they seem to start earlier and earlier. Of course they don’t however it sometimes seems that way. During the winter months I love nothing more than trying to achieve that hygge feeling of cosiness, fire, candles, hot drinks, warm blankets and great book.

After a cold day, nothing is better than coming home and putting our log burner on. Then after the children are tucked up in bed nice and warm getting changed into my pj’s and a super soft dressing gown and enjoying a good book.

Cosy Winter Night

Cosy items from Damart.

Damart recently sent me a gorgeous dressing gown and slippers to help me on my quest to find the perfect cosy evening.

When they arrived I couldn’t wait to get the children to bed nice and early, get my new book out and have a read. Getting the dressing gown out of the package I was really impressed with how soft and cuddly it was. I love the grey and the floral pattern within the fabric, it is also really quite long on me, but I do really like that for a dressing gown. As I am only 5 foot it was to be expected really.

To go with the dressing gown I was also asked to choose a pair of slippers. I love slippers and wear them all year round. And I even take them round to friends and families houses to keep my feet toasty warm while out and about. I even took them on our recent trip to Lapland.

I often opt for a ballet slipper style, something that quite cheap normally as I seem to go through slippers quite quickly. It doesn’t help, I guess that I wear them outside to take to rubbish out and then to hand washing out. This time I opted for a pair of moccasin slippers in a lilac colour. I have never had moccasin slippers before, but they looked really warm and comfy. Plus they come with a rubber sole so should be more hard wearing, which is just what I need.

My cosy evening

We managed to get the children to bed nice and early. Having already put the log burner on earlier in the afternoon, it meant that the living room was already nice and cosy.

I got changed into my pj’s, put on my lovely new dressing gown and slippers. I then made us an indulgent hot chocolate each and got my book out.

Blissful, cosy and warm. It was so lovely to enjoy a couple of hours of relaxing in front of our log burner, all toasty and warm with a great book. I cannot wait to have another evening like this. I think we should all take that bit of extra time for ourselves to relax.

*Thank you Damart for helping with my evening of cosiness. As always thoughts and opinions are my own.*
