Luxury travel for all with Niche Retreats

I love a little bit of luxury in my life, but for so many people they hear the word luxury and think expensive. Adding luxury to your life doesn’t always have to be expensive. Heading away on holiday or a weekend break for me is about finding a a beautiful place to stay. Sometimes you just need to get away from everyday life and relax with a little bit of luxury.

Finding a holiday that is not only luxurious but also affordable for all, really isn’t as difficult as people think. Niche Retreats is the perfect place to start looking for that luxury break that is affordable. It could be you are looking for a romantic break away or organising something for the whole extended family or a large group of friends. Niche Retreats offers it all. From a couple to a group of 50 people.

A couple of years ago I was tasked with finding a property that was big enough to house all of the Hubby’s family including all four of his step brothers, sister, partners, children and dog. In total their was 17 of us going and at the time 4 dogs, it was really difficult to find somewhere within the school holidays that was affordable for everyone but also big enough and would take the dogs.

I started to look about 18 months before we were going and although I booked it just over 12 months before the holiday it was a struggle. We ended up a place that was large enough for us all, a good location to a beach however it wasn’t really a luxury property. Now the family has extended even more, we have more children, more partners and we have 9 dogs between us all. Not that we would now take that many dogs away.

Luxury for larger families or groups

I thought finding something that would be suitable for everyone almost impossible. However, with Niche Retreats they had many luxurious yet affordable options for us. I thought I would share my favourite with you.

Tregoninny Farmhouse and Barns is located near the beautiful village of Tresillian, Cornwall. Set in it’s own private woodland and farm and only 2 miles from Truro. The farmhouse and barns sleep 22 people, 11 in the farm house and 11 in the barn and welcomes 5 dogs. Not only would Tregoninny be more than large enough for my Hubby’s family it has that luxurious feel that I look for. Believe me, spending a week away with his family needs a bit of luxury and a lot of gin to help me get through it.

The farmhouse and barns has large dinning areas, beautiful sitting rooms, so much outdoor space for the children and the dogs. 7 bathrooms, 11 bedrooms, parking for numerous cars, woodlands to walk around and log burners to keep you toasty and warm.

A Unicorn party to make the world go around

Have you noticed that Unicorn’s are everywhere? Not only are they so cute you want to meet one in the forest, you cannot step into a shop without seeing Unicorns wherever you look.

unicorn party

I recently went on a Mummy and daughter Unicorn and Fairy spa day at The Beauty Temple in Nottingham, we both had such a good time. Unicorns and glitter as far as they eye could see. I am still finding glitter in my car weeks later.

Our Unicorn spa day has inspired my little girl to want a Unicorn inspired 5th birthday party, how could I refuse I think I love Unicorns as much as she does.

I have decided to host a Unicorn tea party at our house for her and a few little friends. Think little sandwiches, the cutest unicorn cake pops, unicorn birthday cake, balloons, bunting and then crafting bits for the girls.

Unicorn party goodies

I was kindly sent some Unicorn cake pops from Yumbles an amazing online market place, that is home to small batch food and drinks producers. These cake pops were filled with delicious chocolate cake, they looked fabulous and tasted amazing. It was just a shame I had to share them with the kids, I could happily have eaten them all. I was slightly worried about how they would arrive, however I didn’t need to be as they were will packaged and all perfect.

I found some plastic unicorn shaped head bands that you use ribbon and crystals to decorate, each one of the kids will have one to decorate and then take home with them. The letter room has a gorgeous unicorn washi tape holder, which also holds the ribbon for the head bands. It’s great the girls were able to pull off an amount of ribbon or washi tape to use. It will also look great in her bedroom after, with either ribbon or as a jewellery holder.

My daughter loves to paint things, and I found little unicorn kits in the craft section at the range that can be painted. I thought these would double up as party bags as well as the head bands.

One thing my daughter spotted was the Aquabeads magical unicorn set,  she has been wanting these for so long and perfect for her birthday theme. I know she will have hours of fun with these. I’m looking froward to creating some cute unicorns with her. We haven’t used Aquabeads before so it will be something new we can try out together.

I actually bought the invites on ebay, I do love a personalised invite. Finding the perfect unicorn ones at such a reasonable price I couldn’t not order them for her. I then got the table cloth, cups, paper plates and party bags in my local home bargains. Nice and easy.

My little girl and her friends had a wonderful time. It was fun to see them enjoying it all of the unicorn things.

The essentials of choosing an engagement ring

Looking for a guide to the ideal engagement ring choice? Even if you know your future spouse inside and out, you might still be worried that you’re going to present them with a ring that isn’t quite what they had in mind. To make sure your proposal is flawless, read about finding the perfect engagement ring, including stone, band, colour, and design.

Stone options, which is best?

Are modern clothes and interior design choices the styles that your partner loves? Keep this in mind, as it will influence your ring choice.

When it comes to the stone, colour is important. Some people love colour, while others might enjoy the luxurious purity of a clear diamond. For example, if your future wife or husband keeps on talking about sapphire rings, go for a sapphire cluster ring. Although many think traditions should be adhered to when it comes to weddings, there’s no reason not to go for a bold colour or quirky design, if that is what your partner likes. The only thing to bear in mind is that some stones are softer than others, so will need some extra care. Diamonds, however, are the most hardwearing gemstones, with a hardness of 10 on the Mohs scale!

Are diamonds the best option?

Diamond rings are immortalised in film and literature, have you considered this choice? An engagement ring is going to be worn daily, and a diamond solitaire ring is a perfect, durable accessory that also complements any outfit! Needless to say, a diamond ring won’t go out of fashion.

The band can make or break the ring

The shade of the band will also make a big difference in how well the engagement ring you choose is received. White gold and platinum seem to be the most popular options, with platinum having the added advantage of being more hardwearing. Have a look at your partner’s jewellery box, do they have more yellow gold jewellery or more white gold pieces?

Selecting the best diamond

Diamond choosing is no easy feat. However, we’ve broken the lesson down into four important chunks to help you learn what you need to bear in mind when diamond shopping…

Clarity

How clear and shiny is the diamond? This is its clarity rating. A diamond’s clarity is determined by the size, number and location of ‘damages’ (called ‘natural inclusions’ in the industry) when viewed under 10x magnification. The range varies from an IF, internally flawless indicating no inclusions at all, to SII3, which will be an included stone. Any stone higher than an SI2 (slightly included) will show a good brilliance and the inclusions will not be seen with a naked eye.

Colour

Did you know about the variety of colour you can choose from for your diamond? Despite the choice, the most popular diamonds are white, with a colourless stone being the highest grade. Diamonds are graded from a D colour (colourless) to a Z (light yellow). Generally, anything higher than an I colour can be considered a very high colour grade with a nice white hue.

Cut of the diamond

Asscher:

This square cut diamond has become very popular since the year 2000. Featuring a high crown and large facets, the Asscher cut diamond is renowned for its level of shine and sparkle.

Modern brilliant round:

Could this be the most popular style? Some think so. A solitaire, modern brilliant round ring does not necessarily have to be a single stone, it can be embellished on the shoulders or can be arranged around the main gemstone in a halo-like design.

Old European round:

Looking similar to the modern brilliant round design, the old European round diamond will not be as “neat and polished” as a modern one, but it will have a distinctive, classic and antique design that many people adore. Does your partner adore antique silverware and similar old-fashioned items? They may love this design, then. AS well as a beautiful aesthetic, such gemstones represent better value for money.

Transitional modern brilliant round:

The ideal unison of vintage and modern. Transitional modern brilliant round cut diamonds were typically cut during the 1930s and 1960s, and these stones are often very similar to modern brilliant round cut designs.

Princess:

Either square or rectangle, this cut must have pointed corners, regardless of shape. Overall, the princess diamond is considered the most popular non-round diamond cut.

Emerald:

If you opt for an emerald cut diamond, you get a stone with tapered corners which is also square or oblong in shape. The pavilion (underside) of a princess cut diamond has a faceted cut, which helps create an elegant appeal that many soon-to-be spouses love.

Carat:

Weight is also important when it comes to selecting an engagement ring. If the carat weight of a diamond goes up, so does its rarity, which will be reflected in the price. The bigger the diamond, the more the cost.

Still unsure? Here are some extra tips

It’s not easy to pick the perfect engagement ring, there’s a lot of pressure, but it should be enjoyable. Why not take a friend or family member who knows your partner to help? And remember: follow your instincts, you won’t go wrong.
