Leave bleeding gums behind with Corsodyl Toothpaste

In my younger days I worked as a Dental Nurse, so the importance of having great oral health is something that is as important to me as getting my eyebrows threaded.

Visiting the dentist is so much more than just checking to see if you need a filling. Sat in the chair listening to as string of random numbers and words while the dentist prods and pokes your teeth and gums. These numbers and words not only relate to each tooth and different part of the mouth, but also the condition of your gums.

Gum Disease

Did you know that gum disease effects about 50% of adults worldwide? What a crazy figure! When you think that toothbrushes and toothpaste can be bought at very little cost. Do your gums bleed after brushing or flossing your teeth? If they do, you have the first signs of gum disease. Now is the time to start addressing these issues, before the problems get worse and lead to possible tooth loss.

Gum disease comes in 5 stages:-

  1. Bleeding Gums – Caused by plaque, which constantly builds up on your teeth, if not removed by brushing and flossing can lead to bleeding gums.
  2. Bad Breath – No-one wants bad breath, especially on an important day. Plaque starts to break down the tiny pieces of food in your mouth, which can release an unpleasant smelling gas. Hence the bad breath.
  3. Swollen Gums – As plaque builds up on the gum line, it causes inflamed gums, which become red and swollen.
  4. Receding Gums – As the plaque builds up and forms pockets between your teeth, the gums pull back from the gum line and expose the root beneath.
  5. Tooth Loss – If you leave bleeding gums untreated for a prolonged period of time it can lead to you loosing teeth. Not nice and certainly not pretty to look at.

My Oral Health

Now, I wouldn’t say I am best at flossing my teeth on a daily basis. However I make sure I do at least twice a week. I have always tried to maintain a good level of oral health, sometimes when I have been poorly and rundown, I suffer with occasional bleeding gums. Like so many other people, after a couple of days of looking after my teeth and gums it has all cleared up.

Corsodyl Toothpaste

Recently, I suffered with a very sore mouth. I had many painful ulcers all over my Buccal Mucosa (the inner cheeks), under my tongue and on the roof of my mouth. Not forgetting my sore and swollen tongue. This nasty mouth issue came on very quickly, starting with a couple of little ulcers, then before I knew it I was unable to eat and could drink very little. Great for the waist line not so good for a healthy lifestyle. So, after a couple of days of struggling to get a tooth brush to my teeth, I purchased some Corsodyl treatment mouth wash. Before I knew it, by using the mouth wash a couple of times a day, my mouth was so much better. I was able to eat again and more importantly look after my teeth and gums.

Only using it for a couple of days at a time. I love using Corsodyl treatment mouth wash when I have soreness or irritation within my mouth. I have also recommended it to many friends. In fact in the dental practice it was something that the dentists also recommended to patients on a regular basis.

Corsodyl Toothpaste

Since then, Corsodyl have released a range of toothpastes, designed for daily use to help stop and prevent bleeding gums. Corsodyl’s daily fluoride toothpaste targets the bacteria that builds up along the gum line causing bleeding gums. It’s proven to be four times more effective at removing plaque than normal toothpaste.

Corsodyl Toothpaste

I have been using Corsodyl’s new Ultra Clean toothpaste for a couple of weeks now. I don’t think my mouth has every felt so fresh and clean after brushing. It has a very strong minty flavour, almost too much, it took a couple of brushes to get used to the sensation of this toothpaste. So many toothpastes are now gel style, with various ‘whitening’ elements, gritty or white flecks, this is really a paste. Slightly pink in colour and smells very fresh when you open it up. I haven’t had any other mouth issues since using this, it could just be that i’m feeling quite healthy right now, so no ulcers or it could be the toothpaste. Either way Im really happy using this toothpaste and I shall continue to do so.

Do you suffer with mouth problems? Why not try Corsodyl toothpaste to help leave bleeding gums behind.

Don’t forget it’s important to have regular dental check ups. However if you are unhappy with the treatment you receive from your dentist then there is always a second opinion. The Accident Advice helpline are always on hand for advise should you need them.

Why you should be getting more Omega-3 in your diet…

Many of us have heard of omega-3. What’s with all the hype? Well, it happens to be one of the few fats that’s worth getting excited about. Most commonly found in foods such as fish and walnuts, this nutrient has all kinds of impressive health benefits a few if any drawbacks. Here are a few reasons why you should be upping your omega-3 intake.

More Omega-3 In Your Diet

It’s good for your mental health

Omega-3 is one of the best nutrients for the brain. Regularly taking cod liver oil has been linked to reducing mental health conditions such as depression and anxiety. There have also been studies such as the Zutphen Elderly Study, which found those that didn’t regularly eat fish were more susceptible to cognitive deterioration diseases such as Alzheimer’s. Fish has long been viewed as good brain food and this is likely to be its omega-3 content, which few other foods are as rich in.

It can help fight ageing

Those wanting to ward off wrinkles could also benefit from omega-3. The fatty acid can help reduce inflammation such as sunburn, which can in turn lead to dryness and wrinkles. It can also provide more moisture to the skin, similarly preventing ageing. Plenty of supplements for younger looking skin contain omega-3. Whilst these can combat UV ray damage, it’s worth noting that such supplements shouldn’t be used as an alternative to sun lotion.

It’s good for your heart

Heart disease is regularly caused by damaged blood vessels, which are often caused by inflammation. Because omega-3 is proven to reduce inflammation, a regular intake can help hugely reduce the risk of heart disease. Fish such as mackerel and salmon are great for those wanting to keep their heart healthy, as these are bursting with omega-3. Avoid deep fried fish however as these contain a lot of unhealthy fats which could have the opposite effect on your heart.

It may reduce the risk of many cancers

Many cancers are also thought to be linked to inflammation, which causes cells to start uncontrollably multiplying. As omega-3 reduces inflammation, it is believed to be an important nutrient for reducing the risk of cancer. Studies have linked high levels of omega 3 to a lower risk of developing breast cancer. That said, not all cancers may be prevented by taking omega-3, with some research even suggesting that eating lots of omega-3 may help develop prostate cancer in men.

It can fight allergies

Many allergic reactions result in inflammation. This may be inflammation of the throat causing wheezing (asthma), inflammation of the skin causing rashes (eczema) or inflammation of the eyes and nose (as with many pet allergies and hay fever). As omega-3 can help fight inflammation, ingesting lots of this nutrient could help to make allergic reaction symptoms less potent. Many studies further support this.

Updates to immediately brighten up the kitchen

The kitchen is the heart of the home, as we’ve all been told so many times. It’s not wrong, either. It’s the room that a lot of us spend the most of our time in when we’re trying to get something done. It’s where we cook, eat, and sometimes even like to relax. So, when you’re not feeling in love with your kitchen anymore, it can make a big impact on how much you like your home. But how do you give it the kind of update that will get it feeling fresh and bright once more?

Think usefulness first

When it comes to a kitchen upgrade, the best way to make sure you’re actually spending your money wisely is thinking about the utility of it all. It might not be the most glamorous part of any room, but a new kitchen sink from places like this website can make the time you spend there a lot more productive and a lot easier. Think about your appliances and which are well past their usefulness. Otherwise, think of the surfaces of the kitchen, like the counter itself. If you want to update it, then think about going for surfaces like granite that are much more durable and easier to clean. That means a lot less time spent tidying and a lot more time relaxing.

Let the sun shine

How comfortable you feel in your kitchen is just as much down to the décor and the aesthetic of it as it is how useful the space is. Two big contributors to that feeling of comfort in the kitchen are the lighting and cleanliness. We’re not going to tell you how to clean your kitchen, but we will tell you that a darker kitchen is almost always going to look dirtier thanks to shadows and dingy corners constantly in view. Fitting inlaid lights in the kitchen can guarantee a more even distribution through the whole room, but natural light is best. Instead of thick, heavy curtains, think about using thinner, more open window treatments.

Give yourself room to breathe

The kitchen is a magnet for clutter. Your cupboards are going to fill up before you have time to notice and before long you will be dealing with surfaces that are crammed with unseemly mess. It all has a use so you can’t throw it out but you can just tell it doesn’t below. Look at these great space-saving tips to win your kitchen counters back. Use a magnetic strip instead of a knife block, for instance. Add more vertical storage with hanging baskets and spice racks. Put more hooks on the insight of cupboards to hang cups from so you get your storage space back. A clutter-free kitchen is a much more comfortable kitchen.

Updating the kitchen is well worth it. Not only is a room that needs a little more care and attention compared to the rest of the home, but it also drives up the home value. Definitely something all you long-term planners want to think about.
