It can be exciting yet scary in equal measure. Whether you are making the move to London or another big city, or there are making significant changes you are making right here, right now, the act of change can result in a lot of trepidation, and unsavoury reactions from within ourselves. This means that we have got to find ways in which to prepare for these big changes in life, not just in a practical sense in a personal one as well. How can we do this?

Covering All The Practicalities

As far as practicalities are concerned, this can take a lot of stress out of the situation. Sometimes it’s really straightforward because if you’re doing something like a move and you need to declutter your property, there can be quite an emotional attachment to getting rid of a lot of these items which can make it somewhat final. But on the other hand, you could put a lot of these items into storage especially if you’re making a big change in your life but it’s only a temporary one, and you intend to come back to where you are. A lot of these personal items can easily go into storage. Websites like can provide storage facilities for you. But the practicalities are what makes preparing for change so stressful. It makes everything seem real all of a sudden. But if you have a healthy organisational process this will definitely reduce the stress.

Embracing The Change

Because change is something that we can view with a lot of trepidation, we have to remember that change is a positive. If you’re someone who tries to resist change, you’re not going to go with the ebb and flow. Embracing the change isn’t just about diving wholeheartedly into it, but it’s about making sure that you are addressing your feelings of the situation because they may very well be irrational. Because if you feel scared, ask yourself why you are scared? It might not be a very logical reason, so, therefore, you can process it.

Priming Yourself Psychologically

We can take a leaf out of athletes and people who have to do something incredibly stressful, by “priming” themselves. There are many ways in which to do this, but one of the most effective ones to consciously change your subconscious mind is to work on positive self-talk. There’s an interesting article on about this, and if we ever feel that we are scared of a situation especially where there is something incredibly seismic afoot, we can fare better by talking ourselves through it. It’s very similar to neuro-linguistic programming or cognitive behavioural therapy. Try it, you will be surprised!

Keep Yourself Connected With Loved Ones

Whether it’s a big move, or there are changes in your immediate life, it’s important to surround yourself with positivity. Keeping yourself connected socially, emotionally, or even digitally, with loved ones will not make it feel so stressful. This is something that can be a security blanket of sorts. Big changes in life are scary, but they can always lead to bigger and better things.
