Holiday with Suffolk Secrets and your dogs

Believe it or not I don’t think I have ever been to Suffolk. I’m not sure how that is even possible, being as we love visiting different places in the UK. Suffolk just has not appeared on our places to visit list, although I am not sure why. It has so much to offer.

Suffolk is on the East Coast of England with miles of beautiful coast line to enjoy, areas of outstanding natural beauty, little villages to visit. Suffolk is also very popular as it was home to artist John Constable, people visit Constable Country see what inspired the artist. If you are a fan of the horse racing then New Market is the perfect place for you to visit.

Suffolk Secrets Holidays with Dogs

As I have spoken about before, when we holiday in the UK we like to be able to take our dogs with us. As we have two, it really does cut down on the the accommodation that will accept both and the kids. Sometimes I think it’s the kids the owners should be more worried about than the dogs…….

Suffolk Secrets offer a fabulous range of dog friendly cottages, perfect for a break away with the dogs. Suffolk Secrets actually have a lot of different dog friendly cottages available so it was difficult for me choose my favourites, but here they are.

The Dairy sleeps 4 people and 2 dogs, with shared gardens that are perfect for the dogs and the children.

Little Ducks is a gorgeous little cottage in the heart of Southwold, close to the high street and only 150 yards from the shops an nearest pub. The cottage is beautiful inside, with plenty of space, 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms, plus welcomes 2 dogs. Although the garden isn’t massive, its a lovely court yard style space that is plenty big enough. The cottage is perfectly located for hoping in the car and heading out for long walks with your dogs.

Dog Friendly Cottages in the Lake District

I love visiting the Lake District, a couple of years ago we took the children up for a week. Yeah, it rained the whole time we were there but even through the rain, it’s a beautiful place to visit.

Dog Friendly Cottages

During our stay we visited a few national trust properties and wondered around the little towns. The Beatrix Potter World was fabulous, we had a wonderful time there. We enjoyed learning a bit more a Beatrix’s and her world of friendly animals. It is more than worth a visit if you are heading to the Lake District.

We had stayed on the edge of Lake Windermere, we enjoying looking out across the water and in the evening seeing all of the lights from houses, made it a little bit magical.

In our house, we have two dogs a crazy cocker spaniel and a sprocker spaniel, they actually didn’t come away with us to the Lakes before. However this year they came with us for a week for the first time. It was lovely to take them away with us and it’s something we will now do again when we holiday in the UK. However it is not always easy to find dog friendly cottages.

Some of our closest friends only ever take holidays that are suitable for their dog, they have even found properties with swimming pools that allows the dog to swim in. It’s amazing how dog friendly some properties can be.

Good Life Lake District Cottages have 35 different properties that cater for dogs, I have put together a few of the ones we would love to stay in with our dogs.

Dog Friendly Cottages

Wayside-Cottage-dog-friendly

Wayside Cottage in Ambleside, is a postcard perfect cottage. Just the place I look for when booking a cottage holiday. It’s fairly traditional interior style, suits this grade II listed cottage. Sleeping 6 people and welcomes 2 dogs, it’s also only a mile walk to the nearest pub.

fell-view-dog-friendly-cottage

Fell View in the village of Elterwater, is a lovely converted workshop. It is however set up some steps, so it might not be suitable to everyone or even much older dogs who struggle. Sleeping 6 people and 2 lovely pooches, there is a pub just around the corner. Perfect for popping round in the evening for a drink or a bite to eat.

Brathay-loft-dog-friendly-cottages

Brathay Loft is perfect for a little romantic get away. It only sleeps 2 people and allows 2 dogs but it’s perfect for a weekend away walking and enjoy some quality time together. Every couple needs some ‘us’ time. I would love to take my Hubby here, for a couple of child free nights way. The Brathay Loft has everything you would want for two people. A mile away from the nearest pub and set near the bank of the River Brathay. Beautiful.

Knipefold-barn-dog-friendly-cottages

Knipefold Barn is hidden in the village of Outgate and has stunning views across the fields. Knipefold Barn sleeps 5 people and welcomes 2 dogs, it is a lovely spacious property with a 5 star rating. It does however not allow children under the age of 6, so for us this is something we would have to wait another 18 months before we could stay. It is lovely and would be something we would consider in the future.

Good Life Lake District Cottages, have lots of other lovely places to stay on offer. However with having 2 dogs and being a family of 4, these are my top picks. What do you think?
