Having a beautiful home that I love is something I continue to dream about. As my regular readers ready know we are planning to move to the countryside one day to our forever home. We know it’s not going to be next month or even next year but one day we shall be living our country dream.
I have big plans for our new home, beautiful kitchen, stunning bathroom with a roll top bath, wooden floors, gorgeous vintage items of furniture, a garden that is always in bloom with a lovely wooden play house for the children.
Recently I have been thinking about what types of window dressings to use. I love shutters they are stunning but would not suit the style of house that we would be buying. So I have been looking at what styles we could use to find the perfect blinds.
I really like roman blinds, they easily transform a room. You can get them a lovely range of colours and patterns, they are also often available in made to measure options. So if you are having curtains made or you have curtains for a large window in your room but need a covering for a smaller window then roman blinds are a great option. When the the blinds are up they look beautiful, lots of different layers all tucked together.
I have a thing about venetian blinds in kitchens, I really fancy a beautiful white wooden one in our new kitchen. They are great when they are closed because you can tilt them so the stop the sun coming in at different angles, perfect to allow the light in but keep the beaming sun out. I like that they a wipeable, which is perfect in a kitchen.
Roller blinds are great, they are often a cheaper option, they come in such a variety of colours and patterns. Plus they are more readily available with a black out option. Making them great for children’s bedrooms, both of my children had them in their nurseries.
Vertical blinds, are often seen in offices or conservatories. We had these in our first home, they were already there when we moved in and as they were good quality, plan in colour they stayed until we decorated each room. They did however stay in the kitchen on both the patio and other window.
I love Roman Blinds, so I think that we will use a mix of them and curtains around our forever home, they are simple and stylish. Although I would be tempted by the wooden style venetian blinds for the kitchen. What would your perfect blinds be for your home?
